Thursday, January 28th, 2010Even though there are a few lucky instances here and there, statistics show that only about 50% of kids that suffer from autism never learn to talk, and those who do are never really very fluent with it. Autism affects your communication skills, and it does not matter that you are skilled in other ways or intelligent as most autistic kids tend to be your speech, that may always be a problem. Autistic children are stereotypical in their warped nature, and they tend to be unable to break from a tie to repetitious language, saying the same thing over and over again, yet sometimes meaning different things. You will find one of them seated all alone holding a toy in their hands and doing nothing but staring and rocking back and forth. It is rather distressing and frustrating, but its what you will have to live with if your child suffers. Autistic kids are often absorbed with specific objects or subjects, and never seem to be able to tear themselves away from it. If you tried to pry them off, you could get some of the most explosive reactions you could have imagined, and if you left them alone, youd well, youd meet them there, alone, hours later. Funny thing about the socially challenged kids. When your child is autistic, they can be very intense about things around them. Sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and even touch. To begin with, you don’t want to be suddenly around them with some of these things, and even when you do, you may have to wait long minutes for the right moment. Anything short of this could drive the child literarily berserk. Trust me, you are not spoiling the child this way, you are only seeing to your own peace of mind.
